My mother is a fabulous seamstress and her mother was a talented seamstress as well. My mother used to make some of my clothes when I was young, we would go to the fabric store and I got to pick out some of my favorite patterns and she would make me “culelots”. Skirts with shorts underneath, today’s version “skort”. I loved them, no one else had the same outfits, now let’s be clear I’m not going Dolly Parton “coat of many colors” on you, but in reality, my parents probably couldn’t afford to buy me whatever was “in style” at that time. But I didn’t think a thing of it, I loved the fact that I had something unique. I designed and she sewed my senior prom dress and I’m sure she was cursing at it the entire time. I mean come on, at that time I was 18, had a 13-year-old brother, an 11-year-old brother and a 5-year-old sister, it’s not like she had anything else going on! I loved that dress, never mind the fact that she spent hours on it and of course I danced the night away, Lord knows what the condition of it was when I got home. Today Mom will say the sewing room is closed and I will say thank you Mom for all of your time and energy and leaving me with the bug of loving a unique style that is all my own. I hope you enjoy all of our unique, custom and limited quantity items.
